The second annual Turkey Week Striper Tournament has come to an end. The week was not the best weather for fishing. The first three days had strong northeast winds. The wind switched directions for the last two days and blew from the northwest. The best days were Wednesday and Thanksgiving. Despite the windy weather, many boats fished their two days and brought a total of 36 stripers to the scales. The heaviest striper of the tournament weighed 33.6 pounds, caught by Bad Habit. The third heaviest fish weighed 29.1 pounds caught by Bad Habit. Bad Habit also had the three heaviest stripers whose total weight was 77.2 pounds. Bad Habit took home a total of $3388.50 for their fish. Other Woman was the overall big money winner receiving a check for $5558.25. Their heaviest striper weighed 30.9 pounds and their 3 heaviest fish had a weight of 74.4 pounds. Joe Forte at the age of ten years won the Daily Calcutta for the fifth day of the tournament. His striper weighed 17.4 pounds. This was his first tournament. Congratulations to Joe! Tighten Up received $840.75 for their catch. Play-N Hook-E and Suzy Q also received checks for the Daily Calcuttas.
Despite the weather, the tournament was a success. Thanks to all the anglers and sponsors for their participation and support. Congratulations to everyone for a great tournament! The IRBA is looking forward to next year and will try to improve the tournament based on feedback from the anglers.
The IRBA looks forward to seeing you again in June for the first annual Chompers Shark Tournament.
