As a cold and snowy winter season comes to an end, we look forward to warmer weather and the upcoming 2010 boating season.
The IRBA board of directors has been working hard this winter to accommodate many of your suggestions and requests. You will notice that we have changed our picnic and tournament dates so that it does not interfere with your family holiday plans. We have made the tournament more user friendly and more in tune with the present fishing opportunities.
With the availability of the new conference room in the new Marina building, we will finally be able to put on some seminars where everyone can be comfortable and see and hear what is going on. For example, if there is enough interest, we will invite the Red Cross in to give some classes on CPR and Marine first aid. We are seeking your input so we can schedule seminars on different topics that are of interest to everyone.
This year, instead of having a Labor Day picnic which has not been very popular, we have added a year end dinner. This will take place at the end of the Striper Tournament and will be held at a local restaurant.
We have kept our membership rates the same as last year and have done our part to keep our expenses in check (hear that Washington!) The IRBA really needs your support to help keep our organization alive and well. We will continue to represent all of you who enjoy boating and fishing in Delaware's Bays and Ocean.
IRBA will also continue to work as a liaison between the slip holders and the State Marina.
Please send in your membership form and payment today to reactivate your 2010 IRBA Membership.
Thank you.

The new Board of Directors has many ideas for new and interesting activities for the organization. We hope to receive input from the members to help some of these concepts come to fruition.More will be communicated about this in the near future. John Pinkman will be sending out a membership survey to collect information to improve what can be offered to the members and to better our organization. We have been in touch with Boat US and reinstated the IRBA discount.Details of this program will be distributed shortly after your membership application has been received.
The picnics are planned for the holiday weekends. We will be looking for someone different to cater these events. If anyone knows a good caterer, please pass the information on to a board member. Since everyone seemed to enjoy the DJ, we will be asking Shubie to host the events again this year. The Bluefish tournament will be held again on Memorial weekend. This is a popular tournament and a great way to kick off the summer. Our Tuna tournament on July fourth weekend will continue the IRBA’s involvement with the Breast Cancer Federation. Last year we raised $5000 for Breast Cancer during this event and hope to improve upon that figure this year. Labor Day weekend we will host a flea market again. This has been a good time to get rid of your unused fishing equipment and find something you need. We have other activities in the works for Labor Day weekend but they are not finalized yet. When they are finalized, we will pass them on in our new monthly news letter Thanksgiving week the IRBA along with the Greene Turtle will host the second annual Turkey Week Striper Tournament. This was the IRBA’s biggest tournament in 2008 and we hope to improve on it for 2009. We will be changing some of the Calcuttas for all the tournaments to help improve angler involvement . Based on feedback received regarding the General Tournament, the rules for the General Tournament have been changed to reflect the wishes of our membership..Please be sure to read the attached updated rules.
